Any Issues with Windows 7 and Sims?

I know this question has already been asked on the TS3 Forum, but I wanted to ask you guys if you've had any bad/weird/wonky issues with Windows 7 and TS3 (I'm still on XP).

This computer upgrade is hobbling along slowly but surely, LOL.  I'm hoping to start installing a couple of components next week, and then deal with the graphics card issue by the end of the summer (hopefully o_O).

Thanks in advance for any input, no matter how big or small!

  2. I have had windows 7 since the day it came out. I haven't had any issues with the sims, or any other programs for that matter. :)

  3. I have just got my new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. I have installed the (basic) Sims 3 game, with upgrades / patches and no CC.
Result, when I start up the Sims 3 game, the second it starts after the Sims 3 Launcher, it crashes... :(
I have re-installed it and tried again, same result !!
However, my 'old' computer which caught fire, was running on Windows 7 64-bit as well, without any problems....
Hahaha, you tell me who's to blame... Microsoft or EA, or maybe both ??

  4. I've been wondering this too. As I'm running Vista and I would like a operating system that can check for updates.

@Eva, you're new computer could not have all the requirements for running the game.

  5. I haven't had any problems at all with Windows 7 and Sims, or any other programmes. I LOVE WINDOWS 7! Just had to say that ;)

  6. Eva, I was so shocked to hear about your computer catching on fire...o_O I hope you didn't lose anything important! :(

@Zeri, I'd heard of some weird CC issues with W7 too (on the Forum). I hope that doesn't happen...I can't live without that CC! *pouts*

Thanks for the input everyone! I really appreciate it :D

  8. You're the first to know: I did it :D
I have installed The Sims 3 game and all expansions and all the patches and upgrades and it works !!!
Windows 7 & The Sims on my new laptop; now I can start working on restoring and installing the CC.
I'll keep you posted on that one :)

@ Cel, I didn't lose much data, through the fire; I did have a very recent backup, which is unharmed :D

  9. Nope, I haven't had any problems or issues, but it could be just luck. You never know what you may or may not run into these days.

  10. @Eva, thank goodness you didn't lose much! Backups ftw!

@AE, that's so true -- people with some of the very best specs available have complained of problems that you wouldn't think would exist -- 8GB ram and the fastest processor and little CC, but the game still moves like molasses? o_O It might end up being hit or miss on this one...but I really need to upgrade...

Thanks again to everyone for the input!

  11. My computer is all decked out with a great graphics card, 8 CPU's and heck, the darn thing even glows blue ( hehe). It's Husband built and I am almost sure it could take out NASA if it ever got the mind to.

That said, I still get problems with Ambitions. Even before I added any CC. I think it's more the luck of the draw then anything.

So far my experience with Windows 7 is that it's very user friendly and I don't find myself cussing at it like I did Vista. I hated Vista so much I went back to XP.

I really didn't have many problems at all till Ambitions...and I think we all know who I blame for that *cough EA cough* :)

  12. Haha Husband built. i like taht Xd Mine is Husband built, too. About 5 years old and runs better than most of those things they sell at Best Buy. I JUST installed Windows 7 tonight but in about a week I'll have nothing but free time again so I'll re-install The Sims 3 and see how it goes.
